what we kept seeing.
A pattern we kept seeing
For years before iO existed, our founder witnessed how people actually managed money as a consumer, a business owner, a family member. The pattern was hard to miss
People struggled to track their finances. Some fell into illegal loan and debt they could no longer manage. Families found it difficult to have healthy conversations about money, or teach their children on finance. Small businesses were falling apart because they underestimated one of the most fundamental: proper digital bookkeeping
Changes during and after COVID
Suddenly, everyone became an entrepreneur. Side businesses emerged everywhere hobby income, home kitchens turning into F&B brands, and a whole generation discovering a business side they never knew they had. The line between personal and business finance blurred for almost everyone
Yet no one was building for that reality. Banks treated people as customers. Business apps treated them as merchants. One person. Two systems. Two separate financial identities
From envelopes to spreadsheets
Looking for what could work, our founder noticed two generations already trying to solve the same problem each in their own way.The older generation used envelope systems: physical pockets of cash for groceries, rent, savings, and daily needs. Simple. Visual. Collaborative. That idea later became the inspiration of iO Multi Pockets
At the same time, Gen Z had already started realizing the importance of financial tracking using spreadsheets, phone notes, and manual logs. The awareness was there. The tools were not
The missing financial layer
Between bank/payment apps (transactional, not collaborative), business apps (built for cashiers, not owners), and expense tracking app (individual, disconnected) there was a gap. A layer no one was building
iO was built to fill it. One financial assistant for every IN and OUT. Personal and business, family and team one place, one view. Designed from line one for the world we live in now: as individuals, families, and entrepreneurs often all at once
